TALO Welcomes Government Announcement to Build 70,000 Homes for Social Rent in England
TALO Awarded its Third and Largest Housebuilding Contract for Balma Group

The Government has announced that more than 70,000 social and affordable homes will be built across England over the next 10 years. Almost £10bn of funding has been allocated to the West Midlands, West Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, North East England and Liverpool.

We welcome this decision to help address the housing crisis and are collaborating with a number of combined authorities in these regions to support the delivery of ultra-low energy homes for social rent.

Homes where families can live with dignity and without the need for energy bills.

There are now 1.34m households on waiting lists for social housing and 177,530 children housed in temporary accommodation.

As we transition to UK manufacturing for our offsite housing system, we will be supporting local authorities in the delivery of the ‘biggest housebuilding programme since the post-war period.’

Dr Anthony Greer, Founder and Executive Director of TALO:

“We are already working with a number of combined local authorities in England who are as passionate about raising the standard of social housing as we are. The Government’s plan sare very needed but families need better homes to live in.

TALO’s housebuilding solutions mean that energy bills can be a thing of the past – and that i
s how we will eradicate fuel poverty.

We have to focus on better outcomes for everyone – ultra-low energy performance, better build quality, faster delivery to get families off housing waiting lists, and long-term affordability for the occupier and the local authorities.”
